We are proud to officially announce that Local Group Zurich has been accepted into the ESTIEM network. Following an invitation from the ESTIEM Board, we attended the Council Meeting Bogazici in Istanbul and took part in our very first Council Meeting as an official Local Group.

The Council Meeting takes place twice a year and is the most important decision making event within ESTIEM. It brings together Local Groups from all over Europe to vote on decisions and actively shape the future development of the network. The Council Meeting Bogazici was organized by Local Group Istanbul Bogazici University, which is part of one of the most prestigious universities in Turkey.

The event started with an impressive opening ceremony on the first evening, accompanied by a rich cultural program that set a great atmosphere for the days ahead. On the following day, me, Frank Hund, and my friend, Levin Tran, had the honor of giving the inaugural speech in front of the entire Council, where they introduced Local Group Zurich to the network. To express our gratitude for becoming part of ESTIEM, they handed over a small gift to the 36th ESTIEM Board. We were truly humbled by the warm and welcoming reception of our Local Group.

During the following days, me and Levin attended the General Assembly and gained valuable insights into current topics and ongoing developments within ESTIEM. What makes the Council Meeting especially unique is that more than 300 students from 27 countries come together to exchange ideas in an atmosphere of openness, respect, and friendship. We were able to connect with people we would otherwise never have met.

Each evening was complemented by social activities such as a boat party on the Bosporus, a city tour through Istanbul, and the International Night, where Local Groups represented their cultures by bringing traditional food and drinks. Naturally, Local Group Zurich brought Swiss chocolate, which was very popular among the ESTIEM community. The Council Meeting Bogazici concluded with a wonderful Gala Event at the Bosporus.

Local Group Zurich would like to express its sincere gratitude to the organizers from Local Group Istanbul Bogazici for hosting such a well organized and memorable event. Thank you for this unforgettable experience. We look forward to seeing everyone again somewhere in Europe.
